what is history :
talking about history, some philosophers believe history is non-sense, for example; goethe ( 1749-1832) thought of history as the most absurd of all things and the web of non-sense.
western origin of history:
the word "history" is derived from the greek word " historia" which means information or enquiry designed to elicit the truth.
the arabic equivalent for history is " tarikh" which is formed from the word "arakha" which means recordin trhe time of an event .
the quran origin of history are many of which are; al-qasas, al-akhbar,an-nabai e.t.c .
history has different definition, e.g marcus tellios cicero defined history as the unending dialogue between the present and the past. another definition is that history is the witness that testifies to the passing of time,it illuminates reality,vitalises memory,provides guidance in daily life, and bring us tidings of antiquity. another is that history is the human self knowledge,knowing yourself means: ( knowing what it is to be a person,knowing what it is to be the king, knowing what it is to be the person you are and nobody else, knowing what you can do and since nobody know what they can do untill they try, the only clue to what man can do is what man has done.
