Evolution of History as a Science
Taking you back to the ancient period, history was centered on societal figures such as kings, warriors and defied individuals. The history as at then did not consider the less privileges, and those in the higher rank positions never allowed these less privileges to write anything about them because they considered that as an embarrassment to their dignities. This act continued until 19th century when the less privileges saw it a sign of oppression to consider only those in higher position when coming to the history aspect. They fought this discrimination till they put an end to it.
In regard of the history we have different historians such as Alexander Caeser, Thucydides, and Herodotus.
Herodotus was known as the father of history (C484BCE – C425BCE), he was a Greek historian who lived in the 5th century BC. Herodotus as far as history is concerned has great contributions but his area of deficiency was that he lack (causative factors) only what he was interested in is narrave the history using the second sources.
Thucydides (C460BCE-C400BCE), this man came after Herodotus and he wrote on the war between the Sparta and Athens which spanned between 432 and 404BC. His work entitled (History of Peloponnesian wars).
Thucydides stated clearly that “of the events of the war I have not ventured to speak from any chance information nor according to any notion of my own”.
