HADITH 9
Translation
On the authority of Abu HurayraH (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the messenger of Allah saying:
“Avoid what I have forbidden for you, but what I have commanded you to do, do of it what you are able to do. Indeed the people before you were destroyed by asking a lot of unnecessary questions and their disobedience to their prophets.
Transmitted by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
Comments:
This tradition shows that whatever the prophet (SAW) forbidden for you, you should try to stay-away or abstain from it, and try to follow the commandment as your capability, how? i.e. we follow the specific rules that guided the bearing of testimony that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
1. Follow his commandment
2. And trust him with the given message(s)
3. Staying away from prohibiting actions
4. And not worship Allah except with his order
This ability or capability will be by action of the mankind through obeying Allah with all righteousness.
The prophet also said in this Hadith that asking of numerous questions or unnecessary questions parts of those things that called for collapsing vanishing on your pre-decessors and their disagreeing with their Prophets.
